The Country Inn offers award-winning food served in a relaxing atmosphere with oak beams, open fires, and views over the Staffordshire Peak District.

You can expect fresh, seasonal ingredients and modern British cuisine. Our famous signature dishes include traditional favourites such as pies, steaks, gourmet burgers, and roasts. In order to deliver the very best, we pride ourselves on preparing fresh ingredients.

We take great care to handpick and source all our ingredients as locally and regionally as possible. We love to use seasonal fruit and vegetables, and in support of our local farming community, we are proud that most of our meat comes from Staffordshire farms. Our Longhorn beef comes from Will Pearson’s Dunwood Farm in Longsdon, just 5 miles away, and our lamb comes mainly from Tom Allen in Foxt, just under 10 miles away.

The Country Inn has been awarded 1 AA Rosette for its culinary excellence, as well as winning “The Best Casual Dining” award from 2017 to 2022 at the Staffordshire Tourism & Good Food Awards.

In 1830, afternoon tea was transformed by the Duchess of Bedford to stave off her mid-afternoon hunger pangs.  Afternoon tea quickly became an established and convivial repast in many households.

Indulge in our afternoon tea, featuring a delightful selection of homemade finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and fruit preserve, and an assortment of homemade British desserts. Enjoy your treats with freshly brewed tea or coffee, or add a glass of fizz for an extra touch of elegance.

Our team of chefs has crafted a mouth-watering traditional and modern afternoon tea menu for you to enjoy in our dining area or on our terraced garden with views over the Staffordshire Peak District.
